A NYCHA NEW DEAL
As Comptroller, Senator Parker will ensure
proper funding to bring NYCHA developments
to a state of liveability, and make them more
energy efficient. But besides merely renovating
buildings, this initiative will give us a unique
opportunity to create living wage jobs with
benefits for NYCHA tenants. Senator Parker will
work with the authority to create a NYCHA New
Deal, which will fast track the needed repairs
and upgrades while training and employing
NYCHA tenants for the work, along with
substantial M/WBE contracting. He will audit
the authority as needed to ensure maintenance
and rehabilitation are happening appropriately.
Senator Parker will also resist misguided
policies to raise finance repairs through
privatization or intrusive infills.
