SUCCESSFUL PANDEMIC EMAILS
BY BRIAN O’CONNOR
Whether your business is still closed
or you’re beginning to reopen from the
coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to
communicate with your customer base.
The easiest way to do that is through
email, and now — with mindshare tuned
in to inboxes more than ever — is a good
time to do it.
Here are some points that you should
be making, followed by an example of
wording you can use in your email.
1. Strike a note of empathy
Dear customer:
The last six months have been most
challenging for all of us. It’s our intention
to return to a semblance of “normal”
as soon as New York State and the CDC
recommendations allow.
We are thinking about our customers
and look forward to serving you again
when lockdown recommendations have
been lifted.
2. Tell them the safety
precautions you are adopting
The safety of our customers has always
been our priority, and that instinct
has been amplified given the current
circumstances. That’s why we’ve been
enforcing social distancing and other
best practices in the midst of COVID-19.
Safety recommendations will likely
change according to the CDC and New
York State, but rest assured we’re staying
up-to-date. We’ll share this information
on our website as soon as we get it.
3. Offer ideas on how they
can support your business
Our customers have always been the
heart of our company, the reason we’re
in business. For that, we’re grateful and
look forward to your ongoing support.
Please tell a friend or family member
about us. Shop online insert link to
website and enjoy special pricing and
discounts. Connect with us through our
website and social media. This is where
you’ll find any updates on how we’ll be
managing the safety of our customers
and our staff.
4. Tell them about status of
reopening/plans
Unfortunately, we’re uncertain when
things will be “back to normal,” but
there are encouraging signs for the
coming weeks. We’re taking every precaution
to keep bending the curve. We
know you are too.
To us the most important thing is to
make sure that when we do reopen it’s
in a safe environment. We’ll be using enhanced
health and cleanliness protocols
such as social distancing stickers, hand
sanitizer stations, sneeze guards at the
front desk, etc.
5. How can customers stay in
touch?
Subscribe to our newsletter or follow us
on social media. That’s where we’ll first
update you with any news on reopening.
If you have any questions that we have
not addressed via this email or on our
website, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
We’re available to answer questions and
concerns, and look forward to the day
when we no longer need to lock down.
We’re ready for the bounce back — and
we hope to see you there.
Sincerely
Your Name
