A GOOD-HEARTED
DUO
Getting fans’ blood pumping is
up-and-coming power duo Goodheart,
who are gigging their way
across their native Long Island upon
the release of their debut album,
Perfectly Imperfect.
When they went to record it at
Cove City Sound Studios in Glen
Cove last summer, owner Richie
Cannata, who played saxophone for
Billy Joel and now performs with
the Beach Boys, was so impressed
he joined them on three songs.
“We’re no youngsters, and we’ve
been really making a mark on Long
Island,” says the band’s frontman,
singer/guitarist Clem Goodheart,
who shared his name with the
band, whose influences include
The Who, The Beatles, Billy Joel,
Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Tom Petty,
and Grand Funk Railroad.
Goodheart teamed up with
Johnny Mandelino on drums to
share their music with the world.
Mandelino’s lifelong friend, bassist
Jeff Ganz, who formerly played with
Johnny Winter and Cheap Trick,
was so impressed he joined the band.
“We took it to the next level,”
Goodheart says of the nearly soldout
show.
