FROM THE PUBLISHER
Resolutions! Resolutions! Now that the new year is upon us, many are wisely acting on
the time-honored tradition of using the new calendar as a call for self-improvement
resolutions in 2019.
The season of giving is always, and there are so many benevolent Long Islanders’
who have shown "Acts of Kindness" as an inspiration for a few ways to better oneself
by giving back to the community. We salute you!
Leading that charge on our cover is Long Island-born entertainer LL Cool J, who
takes time out of his busy schedule to work with his nonprofit project, a youth basketball
camp called Jump and Ball that gives kids an opportunity to learn about teamwork
and stay out of trouble. It’s needed now more than ever with the drug epidemic we are
facing.
In our health section, we have a few more tips on how to hone those new year’s resolutions
and maybe add a few to the list. In the real estate section, experts share ideas on how to better organize your home.
In our business section, our new recruit James Bernstein reports how Amazon’s new location in Queens will make it
harder for LI tech businesses to find talent. In Press Buzz, our writers hit the ground in Great Neck to bring readers
all there is to do in this month’s Destinations column spotlighting the fabulous Gold Coast peninsula.
And be sure to check out our new family section featuring stories on education from preschool to college, with
events previews in between.
Save the date and network with us at the 16th annual Long Island Press
Power List awards and networking event honoring the region’s most influential
leaders. The event is scheduled for February 28.
And, as always, like the Long Island Press on Facebook, follow us on Twitter
and Instagram, and sign up for our twice-weekly email newsletters rounding
up the top stories from the updated-daily longislandpress.com
Happy 2019!
Sincerely,
Victoria Schneps-Yunis
