Hello, LIC Courier readers!
We at the magazine have some great stories for you this
August from Western Queens and beyond.
After a complete overhaul, LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B
is getting six new eateries that represent the tastes of New
York. From a local burger favorite to higher end restaurants
created by renowned chefs, frequent flyers are sure to find
a spot to fit their cravings.
In other food news, the World’s Fare Passport Series is
coming to Queens this September. Check out a preview of
the delicious cuisines, but try not to drool too much!
The neighborhoods of Long Island City, Astoria and Sun-nyside
are bustling with activity this August. The residents
of the historic Citylights Co-op in LIC took their fight to the
mayor’s office, a Queens councilman unveiled newly renovated
basketball courts at the Astoria Houses and plans to install
protected bike lanes in Sunnyside have caused quite a stir
in the community.
Get ready for a PACKED Features section this month,
many of which tell stories about awesome girls and women.
Stories for this month include one about Queen Library’s
first and only correctional facilities librarian and an all-girls
rowing team that learn the “ultimate team sport” at Flushing
Meadows-Corona Park.
