are no winners or losers here. It’s a different kind of date night, that’s for sure.” When Marci isn’t coming up with ideas to market her brand and organize both locations, she is a busy, but happy, single mom of three wonderful children, a boy and a set of twin girls. Originally from the Hudson Valley, Greg is an amateur chef who just happens to grow his own veggies like artichokes and tomatoes along with herbs in the backyard of his Harlem brownstone. “My earliest work of art, if you could call it that”, revealed Greg, “ was our family cat and, oh yes, my favorite movie character at the time, Terminator 2”. Some of Greg’s favorite painters are Morandi, Corot, Vuillard, Van Gogh and Piero Della Francesca. His favorite music to paint by is anything by Smokey Robinson and Maurice Ravel. Besides holding a BFA and an MFA in art, Greg, like all of his colleagues at the Paint Place, is very engaging and down to earth. Whether you want to get together with some friends and skip drinks at the café, for a night of bonding and painting or you wish to help your child explore his or her interest in painting, The Paint Place is your artistic oasis amidst the urban hustle and bustle. Classes range from girl’s night out to birthday celebrations. Probably the most unique class that they offer is Paint Your Pet. Just send them a photo of your little (or big) buddy ahead of time. Marci and Greg will have the photo sketched out and ready for you to paint. All classes are two hours and they are such fun you will never want then to end. The main job of the experienced artists on hand is to answer any questions that you may have on technique, colors, etc. The muse and inspiration, however, comes from you! Be sure to check in with Marci, Greg and their talented team at [email protected] to get the scoop on classes in both Manhattan and Astoria, their gallery and more. Their Astoria classes are held at 31-21 31st St. and their phone is (929) 522-0086.
