“Elena Lopez Riera: Those Who Desire”
Running now through May 27
Riera’s films depict a poetic representation of
individuals and settings within Southern Spain, her
native coastal. “Those Who Desire,” is about a male
subculture who is devoted to raising and training
homing pigeons for competition. In a pigeon race, the
winner is not the fastest bird but the male pigeon with
the ability to chase and conquer a single female bird.
While capturing the animal world, Riera also explores
the masculinity of those who train these animals that
further shape the “colombicultura” and the overall
community.
