The show highlighted the talent here in LeHavre as well as the work of a few local artists from the nearby Whitestone area. Nick and Blanche Isabella showed very beautiful art work. She does bright and sensitive oil paintings of dogs, boats, flowers, street scenes, etc. and he does very precise fine pen and ink sketches. You may have seen their work in the window of Astoria Bank in the Whitestone Shopping center as well as Jim Bischoff, Charles Bentz, and Helene Oelerich’s photography work there. Photos by MIKE DeBARTOLOMEO We all enjoyed wine and cheese together and had a very relaxing and delightful time socializing as well as showing and selling some art work. Thank you, Selma Musicant for all your hard work buying and serving our refreshments and to Tom, our porter, who set up our metal wall for the art and aided all who needed help getting work in and out of the club. Ashley at the desk was also so helpful with any request. Joan Laufer, our neighbor, showed very brilliant oil paintings and Flora Levi did too. Marion Kashunsky showed lovely landscapes and one of her granddaughter. Nice to have Grandma paint you! We said goodbye to Doriss Fennell, who will shortly move to THE state of Washington to be near her daughter. Her work is very detailed and varied. Charles Bentz is a veteran of our shows who paints wonderful beach, sea, and water scenes Near the end of the show we had a drawing for six original art works donated by the artists and the lucky winners were delighted by their good fortune! Also, besides showing his drawings, Nick Isabella recited a few of his poems with his deep voice. Very entrancing. And Helene Oelerich recited a couple of brief stories about her son as a kid growing up in LeHavre and as a soldier in Iraq defending his country. We were all very moved. So, a great time was had by all those who attended.
