The Annual Meeting of Le Havre
Owners Corp. took place on October
22, 2018 at P.S.209Q, 16-10 Utopia
Parkway, Whitestone. As in prior
years, I was very disappointed at the
very small turnout of shareholders. It
is the responsibility of all shareholders
to take part in all voting matters of the
co-op and to participate at the Annual
Meeting. Your apartment is probably
one of the major investments that you
have and it is up to you to ensure that
the people running the co-op are representing
your interests.
During the meeting I gave a run
down on the projects that we have been
undertaking in recent times. They are
as follows:
Renovation of Lobbies/Landings:
Buildings #1–#24 are being worked
on with various stages of the work
underway. Different tradespeople are
involved so some aspects of the work
are ahead of others. With regard to
the mirrors, we have been advised by
the manufacturers that they should be
delivered to us by the end of November.
Since this is a special order, they are
taking a bit longer than expected but
every effort will be made to install
them in a timely manner once we
receive them.
Cement Work:
Eighteen buildings have had the
cement in the portico areas completed
to date. Each subsequent year our
program calls for the replacement of
the cement in the portico areas for 3-4
four buildings and will continue until
all buildings are completed.
Financials:
The 3 month’s ending September
30, 2018 (budgeted versus
actual) showed total
revenues of $4,358,779
(24.87%) of the budgeted
amount of $17,524,297
and total expenses of
$3,784,950 (22.73%) of the
budgeted amount of $16,649,827 as
reported by our accountants. The positive
variances were due to lower costs
of heating and the time differences of
payroll and payroll related costs.
Holiday Activities:
We have scheduled events for the
coming holiday season for both adults
and children. See list of the upcoming
events below:
Children’s Activities:
• November 10th–Kid’s Movie:
“Incredibles 2”
• November 17th - Thanksgiving
Arts & Crafts
• December 8th – Toys for Tots
• December 22th -
Kid’s Movie: “Hotel
Transylvania 3”
Adult Party:
We will be having
our annual New Year’s
Eve party on December 31st
(details later).
Please watch out for the flyers on
these events. I hope that many parents
will be participating with their children
in these events to make for a joyous
holiday season. The more participation,
the better, as this will help us plan
for additional activities.
On behalf of the Board of Directors,
Management, Maintenance, the
Clubhouse staff and my family and I,
I would like to wish everyone at Le
Havre a Very Happy Thanksgiving
Holiday.
Thank you, as always, for your continued
support.

The gift of giving and enjoying!
The LeHavre Art League is again
presenting local artists work to see
and enjoy with friends and family.
We will have a guitarist and singer
(one of our own residents) and free
refreshments too!
As the holidays approach, many of
us are beginning to think about gifts.
Because so many of us lead very busy
lives, convenience is often a priority.
It’s so easy to pick up the phone and
order from a catalog, order online, or
to go to the shopping mall. While time
is the biggest possible gift, it is also
important to express one’s love, gratitude
and appreciation with a simple
gesture. A lot can be said with a little.
All of the art works, created by the
diverse group of artists at our annual
Art Show, are one of a kind. So
when you’re searching for that special
“something” to show how much you
care, you can be certain one of these
unique works will be a great gift and
will convey your message. We will
have paintings, photos, handmade animals
for the kids, blankets, and other
crafts too. Come and see how good our
local artists are.
We hope to see you all, Le Havre
residents and everybody in our community
alike, on Sunday, November
18 from 11AM to 3PM at The Le
Havre Club House, 168-68 9th Ave,
Whitestone, NY 11357.
There is a $30 registration fee for artists
but entrance is free for the public.
