Hangry man goes on rampage

Flushing
Fed up with waiting for his food,
a hungry man smacked a Flushing
restaurant employee with a teapot,
law enforcement sources said.
On July 15, the 109th
Precinct tweeted out images of the
hangry customer involved in the
June 28 attack at Wanshun Seafood,
located at 135-19 40th Road.
At about 12:30 a.m. on June 28,
police said, the unknown suspect got
annoyed that his order was taking
too long to be completed.
Authorities said the suspect
proceeded to flip over the table
where he was sitting, approached
a 29-year-old male employee and
smashed the employee’s head with
a teapot. The suspect then fled the
location on foot down 40th Road
toward Main Street.
Officers from the 109th Precinct
responded to the scene. The victim
suffered a minor injury.

South Jamaica
Elevator lift delivers fatal crush

A 67-year-old man died after
being crushed by an elevator lift in
the basement of a South Jamaica
restaurant on Monday morning,
police reported.
The Fire Department said the
incident occurred at about 6:29 a.m.
on July 15 inside the Door Restaurant
located at 163-07 Baisley Blvd.
More than 60 firefighters from 12
units along with officers from the 113th
Precinct responded to a 911 call about a
man trapped.
Upon arriving at the scene, law
enforcement sources said, they found
the victim —Granville Wiltshire,
67, of 200th Street in St. Albans
—unconscious and unresponsive. Fire
Department sources said the man had
been reported trapped between the
elevator and wall.
Though firefighters were able to
free the man, he could not be saved,
authorities said.
The victim’s body was transported
to the Medical Examiner’s office
for an autopsy to determine the
cause of death.
An investigation is ongoing.

Cop arrested for domestic incident

An off-duty NYPD officer was
arrested in Queens early Monday
morning after an alleged domestic
incident with his ex-girlfriend and
her mother.
Niall O’Doherty, 34, was arrested
at 6:45 a.m. on July 15 by members of
the 102nd Precinct, based in Richmond
Hill. He was arraigned before the
Queens Criminal Court the same
day on charges of assault, aggravated
harassment, harassment and
unlawful imprisonment.
He was released on his own
recognizance and is due to return to
court on Sept. 25.
According to the indictment, on
May 16, O’Doherty allegedly was
involved in an altercation that involved
restraining his ex-girlfriend’s mother
and causing her physical injuries. The
exact circumstances of the alleged
crimes were not immediately released.
The indictment also states that
on July 23, 2018, O’Doherty allegedly
committed harassment against his exgirlfriend’s
mother.
Reports say that O’Doherty’s exgirlfriend
is five months pregnant with
his child and is seeking a restraining
order against O’Doherty.
The NYPD confirmed that the arrest
was a result of an internal investigation
about a domestic incident.

Jackson Heights
Man shot in the head on street

Cops are looking for the gunman
who shot a 26-year-old man in the
head on a Jackson Heights street on
Friday night.
Law enforcement sources said the
victim is now fighting for his life at
Elmhurst Hospital.
Police said the shooting happened
at about 10:05 p.m. on July 12 in front
of an apartment building on 95th
Street near 35th Avenue.
According to authorities, the
victim was standing with a crowd of
people when the suspect — identified
only as a man wearing all red clothing
— walked up and fired a single shot
which struck the victim in the head.
The gunman fled the scene
in an unknown vehicle, police
sources said.
Officers from the 115th Precinct
responded to the scene. There were
no other injuries.
No arrests have been made,
and the investigation is ongoing, a
uthorities said.
