COVID-19 REMINDERS
OCTOBER 2020
COVID-19 Reminders: October 2020
As other states and areas of NYC are experiencing spikes
in COVID cases, it remains critically important that we
remain vigilant. Please remember:
At Cryder Point, face coverings are NOT optional
Residents, guests, visitors and delivery people
must wear a face covering when in common areas
This applies to all common areas of all buildings
Use a scarf or bandana if a mask is not available
Wash your hands often
Use regular soap and water for 20 seconds (that’s
two verses of “Happy Birthday”).
Use sanitizer as a second choice if soap isn’t available.
Stay at home
Things are improving, but it’s still a good idea to
stay home as much as possible.
Limit your outside activities to the necessities
Message from the
Board President
Elevator Modernizations: As many in the front apartments
(Apartments A through L) have seen, Century
Elevator has been moving along quickly with the work.
We’re confident everyone will like the brand-new interiors
which are much sleeker looking and have added
height to make moving taller items a lot easier.
We’ve received positive feedback about the assistance our
staff has been providing, and I’d like to thank residents who have been extremely
considerate and cooperative throughout this long process.
Work is scheduled to begin on the rear apartments on October 19 and an updated
Project Guide is being distributed to those apartments. The guide provides a list of
important phone numbers, information on assistance with packages, tips on doing
your laundry, as well as other guidance to help everyone get through the elevator
down time, so please read it thoroughly. Please contact Management if you have
any questions.
2021 Budget: The Board is currently working on next year’s operating budget.
As you may know, we typically present the budget to shareholders in December.
As we do not expect the Community Rooms to be open by then, we are discussing
the best way to disseminate the information to shareholders. Please stay tuned for
more information.
Security & Property Signage: One bonus that has come out of the elevator project
is that it gave us the opportunity to install a camera on each roof since the elevator
shafts were already open. We now have a view of the roofs, which enhances our
security.
Of course it’s been obvious for a long time that improved property signage is
necessary as we have experienced a significant increase in non-resident “traffic.”
Two large signs have been ordered, one of which will be placed at each entrance
of each middle driveway. Lights will be installed so that the signs will be visible at
night. See the rendering here:
In addition, smaller signs have been ordered
which will be situated along the paths by the main
entrances of the buildings. All the signs are expected
to be here by the week of October 19, possibly
sooner.
We are hopeful that the signs will serve as a deterrent
to trespassers on the property. The Board and Management appreciate residents’
alerting the office when they see non-residents on the premises and it will
be helpful if everyone keeps an eye out. In reality, we can expect fewer trespassers
as the weather gets colder, so the true test of the signs’ effectiveness will be next
spring and summer.
We are also soliciting bids for a mechanical arm for the front of each end driveway,
i.e., the 01 and 41 driveways on the east and west sides of the buildings. We will be
evaluating the cost and practicality of installing these arms once we receive quotes
and will address what other efforts need to be made, if any, as we move forward.
Till next time, Jill Davis

such as going to the grocery store.
Keep your distance
No congregating!
Always practice social distancing, i.e., stay 6 feet
away from the next person, even if you are wearing
a mask
If you don’t feel well
Seek medical care if you are not feeling well for 3
to 4 days.
Unfortunately, not everyone is tested for the virus.
The symptoms vary widely, so it’s difficult to tell if
you actually have the coronavirus if you have not
been tested.
However, you will likely be advised by your medical
professional to self-quarantine. It is imperative
that you do so until you are medically cleared.
Notify Management so that you can be assisted,
e.g., having your trash picked up outside your door.
