C R Y D E R P O I N T 14 AUGUST BY ALINA SURIEL Bayside Paint Place will be moving to a new, larger store on Bell Boulevard to accommodate an expanded inventory set to include wallpaper and window treatments. The store is currently located at 41-23 Bell Blvd. and will be moving only two spaces down to the larger corner spot at 41-27 Bell Blvd., which formerly housed a McDonald’s franchise. Peter Ha, who has served as general manager of Bayside Paint Place for seven years, told The Courier that there is very good business to be done as a home improvement store on Bell Boulevard. While the Bayside commercial stretch is rich in dining and nightlife options, there is little local competition for a paint or home decorating store. “When you look at Bell Boulevard, you can see restaurants and food and you have choices,” Ha said, “but when it comes to decorating in the neighborhood and stuff like that, over here you don’t see any, and nobody really does it.” The abundance of single-family homes in Bayside and northeast Queens generate a constant demand for custom home decorating supplies, Photo via Facebook/Rose Serrone Buffalo Wild Wings will be opening a new location on 20th Avenue. Wallpaper in particular was a popular request for its classic style, and the store also received frequent inquiries on window treatments. Jimmy Bougadis, a loyal patron of Bayside Paint Place, said that Ha has given him great advice on how to complete construction projects and that his customer service is also at a much higher level than at other stores. “In the other stores, you go in and ask a question, but they’re very busy and don’t give you any attention,” Bougadis said. “Peter smiles to you and says good morning. It makes me feel good.” Bayside Paint Place moving into former McDonald’s site THE COURIER/Photo by Alina Suriel Bayside Paint Place will be moving to a storefront known to many as the former site of McDonald’s on Bell Boulevard and 42nd Avenue. Online farmers market to service Flushing BY ALINA SURIEL An online farmers market aiming to sell high-quality food at the click of a mouse is expanding to deliver to Queens. OurHarvest, a company that aims to bypass concerns about artificial additives and mislabeled products by buying food products straight from small food companies, will be delivering orders to be picked up the CrossFit gym in Flushing at 59-43 Fresh Meadow Lane. Customers must pre-purchase the goods from the OurHarvest website by selecting items and paying for them at least 48 hours before the delivery date. For every $25 order placed, the socially conscious food service will deliver a meal to a local food pantry. Products available on OurHarvest’s website include locally raised meats from upstate New York and Pennsylvania, and berries, fruits and vegetables from Long Island. Some products are sold in family or bulk sizes to ensure that prices remain as low as possible, and each selection is attached to a description listing the farm or company of its origin and a complete list of ingredients. Artisanal food products such as organic loose tea, fresh tortillas, cheese and freshly baked bread are also offered. BY ALINA SURIEL College Point residents will have a new sports bar to watch all the major games, as Buffalo Wild Wings prepares to open a new franchise in the neighborhood. The new Buffalo Wild Wings will be at 134-15 20th Ave., formerly the home of a Boulder Creek Steakhouse. According to James Bitzonis, president of the company that operates all Buffalo Wild Wings locations in the New York metro area, the wing joint will be serving beer and its signature fried cuisine to College Point locals in about three months. He declined to answer any other questions, including inquiries about how large the space is planned to be. New York City currently has seven other Buffalo Wild Wings locations so far, two of which are situated in Queens. One of these locations can be found in Terminal 4 of JFK Airport, and the other is in Forest Hills at 107-16 71st Ave.
