Cryder Point Does It Again!
May’s Food Pantry
Drive a Big
Success!
In May, Deborah Berg emailed the
board volunteering to coordinate a local
food drive. She wrote, “As we all have
heard, many families in our borough
are suffering from a food scarcity. In the
past Cryder Point has been very generous
donating canned goods and I thought
this would be a good way to do our part
through a food drive.”
Who could say no? And so the effort
was organized in just a couple of days
with boxes placed in each lobby and Liliana
and Emma Degrottole and Niyah
Eltzroth helping to get the word out. The
drive lasted about one week and approximately
250 cans and five cartons of dry
food were delivered on May 22 to Grace
Episcopal Church.
“I cannot begin to describe how overwhelmed
the church was by the generosity
of the residents of Cryder Point!”
Deborah reported. “Unfortunately as
many people are facing financial hardships,
more and more people are turning
up at their food pantry seeking assistance.”
Deborah said that after the drive, residents
approached her about continuing
the donations. With that in mind, another
food drive is being planned for this
month, so be on the lookout for postings.
Thanks Deborah, Liliana, Emma, Niyah
and everyone who helped out and contributed
t l-r: Liliana and Emma Degrottole; Niyah o this worthwhile cause!

June’s Photo of the Month is our cover
picture. It was taken by Denise Demby and
it was chosen not only because it’s a beauty,
but because let’s face it—we can all certainly
use to see a happy rainbow these days.
It also offers a striking contrast to this
month’s submissions which show us some
really unique perspectives of the sky—
not to mention our magical disappearing
bridge. Thanks go to Rob Cohen, John Ducroiset,
Dorene Finnegan, Marsha Gellert,
Joe Hollander and Susan Ryan for all your
terrific contributions!
Remember, if you venture out for a walk
alone (or six feet apart) and happen to see
something that catches your eye, please take
a photo. The weather is improving and a few
pictures to remind us of nature’s beauty are
always good for the spirit.
A reminder about the contest rules:
The photographer must be a resident of
Cryder Point, and all photos must of the
property or of a view from the property.
They also must be current, that is, taken no
more than a couple of months before you
submit them.
Any description of where you were on the
property, the day of week or time of day…
any details that you can provide which
bring your neighbors into the moment of
the photo…are eagerly welcomed.
Submit your pictures to jdavis@qns.com
and yours might be selected to be featured
in the paper. Please be sure to put “Cryder
Point Photo” in the subject line of your
email and include the full name of the photographer
and an approximate date of the
picture.
