C R Y D E R P O I N T 8 JUNE Why so many open seats? Cryder Point Board members are each elected for two years in staggered terms to provide continuity from year to year. To achieve this, five members are elected for their two-year term, the other four the following year for their two-year term, and so forth. In 2014’s annual meeting, a quorum of shareholders’ votes was not reached. This resulted in no election and all sitting board members remaining in office until the next election, at which time all would be required to run for re-election. All 8 current board members have chosen to re-run, and 2 new candidates are rounding out the roster. Read on to learn more about them. LINDA KLEIN Why are you seeking (re) election to the board? I feel my experience and skills are very beneficial and useful on the Board. I would like to participate in maintaining Cryder Point as a “premiere co-op.” What interests, talent, MEET the Candidates This year, all nine seats are open education or experience do you possess that would serve as an asset to the Board? I have an MBA with Honors in business and strong people skills, honed during my 30 years running a 70-plus–employee business unit at Verizon. I also have a degree from George Washington University (through Verizon) in project management and previously have served for 3 years on the Co-op Board and Applicant Committee for a co-op in Forest Hills. What changes would you like to see made at Cryder Point, and why? If possible, I would like to develop a preteen & teen evening; a stable place—manned by parent volunteers—for preteens and teens to “hang out.” I would like to implement the use of the Community Room as a means to earn fees for the co-op. And I’d like to create a dog-run. EILEEN ANNECHINO Why are you seeking (re) election to the board? We joined the Cryder Point community in April 2013 as terraces were coming down, landscaping was redone and now a sea wall under construction— ambitious projects, for certain, handled by a proactive Board and Staff. Serving on a Board such as this, committed to providing quality benefits to the Cryder Point shareholders aligns with my commitment to volunteer and give back to our community. What interests, talent, education or experience do you possess that would serve as an asset to the Board? I have more than 37 years of managerial and project management experience, including designing and delivering energy programs and managing large budget projects. For the last 25 years, my experience has been focused primarily on delivering energy conservation, demand management and energy efficiency programs for the NYC area. I also have excellent oral and written communication skills. What changes would you like to see made at Cryder Point, and why? It would easy to say, “nothing; everything is fine, and let’s keep it that way.” Perhaps a better question is, “Are you willing to make choices and responsible decisions that would better impact the community, that are prudent, fiscally responsible and serve the community overall?” The answer is “Yes!” KOSTAS SFELIONITIS (incumbent) Why are you seeking (re) election to the board? I have served on the Board for 3 years, including one as secretary. Our community has been going through a major transformation during that time, and I would like to serve once more in order to see the completion of all the hard work. What interests, talent, education or experience 6 CRYDER POINT COURIER | JUNE 2015 | WWW.QUEENSCOURIER.COM do you possess that would serve as an asset to the Board? I believe that the biggest asset I possess is the time I have spent on the Board. I have been involved in every aspect of the major renovations, including the terraces, sea wall project and landscaping. I believe that this experience is a vital tool in ensuring that these projects be completed properly. What changes would you like to see made at Cryder Point, and why? After the completion of the large capitalimprovement projects that are currently in progress, I would like to add some smaller-scale amenities to our community. I would like to add a gym and the installation of a heating system to our pool. RICHARD GREENBAUM (incumbent) Why are you seeking (re) election to the board? I have served on the Board for 3 years. Prior to being elected to the Board, I was concerned with openness and communication to shareholders, fiscal responsibility and cost control, major contract evaluation and long-term planning. There is still work to be done in some of these areas. What interests, talent, education or experience do you possess that would serve as an asset to the Board? I have a BS in quantitative business analysis and regularly work in developing business-related systems from accounting to operations management. I also ran a small manufacturing company for 15 years where I dealt with mechanical and electrical engineering challenges.
