I am a numbers person. Why are you running? The co-op is refinancing its mortgage now and it is important for a numbers person to participate in the process, to assure that we get a loan with the most appropriate terms for our current needs and long term financial goals. What Board initiatives would you like to see over the next year? There are SEVERAL projects that NEED to be done in the near future -- seawall repair, landscaping and white paint removal (optional) that will draw down the reserve balance by many hundreds of thousands of dollars. This money will come out of the reserve fund which is healthy now because of the refinancing. I want this Board and ALL Boards hereafter dedicated to replenishing the reserve fund, especially after large draw downs. We are doing a lot important of work to make Cryder Point a beautiful, structurally sound co-op. It is equally important to make Cryder Point a financially sound co-op. (continued from page 8) H Minna Cohen H Professional/related background: I have a master’s degree in special education and am a law school graduate. During my career, there have been various opportunities to utilize my skills in leadership and administrative areas. I honed my skills in organization, management and technology. I currently work with various community organizations, (museums/Congressional office/ business associations) to advance programs within my professional community. I am goal oriented and able to work within specified timeframes to complete projects. My communication skills have served me well working within different committees. I recognize the importance of teamwork and getting a consensus of opinions where everyone’s viewpoint is heard and respected. Why are you running? I am a lifelong resident of Beechhurst. I spent my early years in a home three blocks from Cryder Point. When it was time for my family to sell their home I told my parents the only place they could move was Cryder Point. Since 1980, my parents were residents and shareholders at Cryder Point. My childhood and school friends all lived in various apartments in the three buildings. We would play and fish on the dock and sit by the beach. Cryder Point has a special place in my heart and has always been home. I want to continue maintaining the Cryder Point quality of life for all members of our community. What Board initiatives would you like to see over the next year? My overriding concern is financial stability, building preservation and safety for our valued residents. I am aware of the challenges to our buildings' framework, and intend to work on initiatives to make it financially viable for residents and future generations to continue the family environment at Cryder Point H Jill Davis H Professional/Related Background: I have over 25 years business experience in market research, including budget and staff management. In addition, I bring several years experience in serving on co-op boards, including serving as a director at my previous co-op. I have been on the Cryder Point Board for the past two years, serving first as secretary and currently as president. Why are you running? I believe the Board has made great strides in several areas, especially in working toward financial stability and enforcing strict fiscal management. We’ve also improved Board-shareholder communications. However, I believe just as strongly that we can still improve upon these initiatives and start to address others that we have been unable to so far. I hope to continue to contribute my experience and perspective on our Board to see these things through. What Board initiatives would you like to see over the next year? As everyone knows, the community has been undergoing a lot of change and disruption between the terrace work, 01 parking lot, etc., and it has taken a toll on our grounds and landscaping, which disturbs me. While the construction projects won’t be completed overnight, I think we are finally at a point where we can make serious financial and aesthetic plans for how we will address this issue so that we can get started immediately once it is practical to do so. On an ongoing basis, I would like to explore new ideas for how we can save money to build our reserve and/or reallocate funds more effectively for the benefit of all shareholders.
