REMINDERS
COVID-19 REMINDERS: MAY 2020
Following Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order last month, all Cryder Point residents
and their visitors must wear a face covering in any of the interior common
areas of thebuildings.
The New York “Pause” order is in effect until at least May 15. With that in mind,
please remember:
Wash your hands often
Use regular soap and water for 20 seconds (that’s two verses of “Happy Birthday”).
Use sanitizer as a second choice if soap isn’t available.
Stay at home
Limit your outside activities to the necessities such as going to the grocery store.
If you go out
Cover your face
Message from
the Board President
The New York State “Pause” order remains in effect
until at least May 15, so we all continue to
shelter in place. We’re all getting a little (or a
lot) stir crazy, and with the weather due to
warm up soon, it’s only going to be more
challenging. I’d like to thank our residents
again for taking Governor Cuomo’s order seriously
and following it so closely.
The pool deck is open, but residents who
want to relax and enjoy the view must bring their
own chair. Why? Our staff would have to clean
and sanitize the regular chairs constantly, which would be an enormously
time consuming and expensive task.
If you do go down to the pool, please remember that face covering
and social distancing rules apply there as well. Do not forget to wear
your mask when you’re leaving and returning to your building—this
includes children age 2 and over. And very important, if you remove
your mask outside, everyone must maintain social distancing (6 feet
apart). These rules are not about ourselves; we have a mutual, social responsibility
to prevent the continued spread of the virus as best we can.
Speaking of the pool, if you’re wondering when it’s going to open,
right now your guess is as good as ours. In practical terms, our earliest
hope is the possibility of opening in July. We are in ongoing contact
with Elite, and at press time they have told us they are waiting for more
information.
Even if we’re able to open then, which is far from confirmed, it’s likely
that guidelines for social distancing will affect pool operations this season.
But one step at a time: We will continue to follow developments
closely and keep you informed as we learn more. Needless to say, it is
our intention to open the pool if we can.
It is also probable that the 2020 annual meeting and Board election
will be delayed. It has been scheduled for the end of June, which is
sooner than we realize. We obviously don’t know what the rules regarding
congregating will be by then, but it’s likely that many residents
still wouldn’t feel at ease convening in our usual venue (the Bay Terrace
Jewish Center) even if rules were loosened or lifted. The Board is
discussing options and will be keeping everyone updated as we figure
this out.
Stay well, everyone.
Till next time, Jill Davis

“We’re All About You”
Use a scarf or bandana if a mask is not available
Cover your hands
Ordinary gloves will work if you don’t have disposable ones
Keep your distance
No congregating!
Always practice social distancing, i.e., stay 6 feet away from the
next person, even if you are wearing a mask
If you don’t feel well
Seek medical care if you are not feeling well for 3 to 4 days.
Unfortunately, not everyone is tested for the virus.
The symptoms vary widely, so it’s difficult to tell if you actually
have the coronavirus if you have not been tested.
However, you will likely be advised by your medical professional
to self-quarantine. It is imperative that you do so until you are
medically cleared.
Notify Management so that you can be assisted, e.g., having your
trash picked up outside your door.
