Message from
the Board President
Some good news: As of this writing, work
on the 01 roof is ahead of schedule and the
installation is nearing completion. Once finished,
the manufacturer will come to inspect
and issue the warranty.
The plan for new landscaping in the 21/41
courtyard is well underway. It is still in the
preliminary phase but will include new trees
and shrubs. Every effort is being made to incorporate
residents’ wishes for a more park-like setting while maintaining
improved water views. Also being taken into consideration
is the need for more privacy from the street (we experience an
inordinate number of non-residents coming onto the property,
who seem to think this is a public park), as well as allowing for
sufficient open space for kids to play in. At this time we’re obtaining
pricing which will impact how much we can do on an immediate
basis. More details will be forthcoming as we have more
information.
An update on the NYC mandated elevator upgrades: Members
of the Board joined Le Havre and the President’s Co-op & Condo
Council in April for a second meeting with NYC Councilman Paul
Vallone to discuss timing, which has been a concern given the twophased
2020/2027 requirement and elevator companies’ capacities
to conduct all the work before NYC’s deadlines. This meeting came
up on short notice, and we were glad to be a part of it.
As a follow up, the group that met with Vallone is tentatively
scheduled to convene with the NYC Council this month to bring
the issues to the Council’s table. We are hoping that a logical compromise
can be achieved. Confirmation of the meeting is TBD.
In the meantime, not taking anything for granted, we have received
multiple bids for the work and the Board held a special
meeting at the end of April to plan the logistics as to how to best
assist residents during a lengthy elevator outage. Be assured that
residents will be given substantial notice prior to the commencement
of any work.
By now pool membership packages have gone out and new
members should refer to the flyer in this paper for special dates
and times to sign up at the Management Office. Everyone is looking
forward to another summer by the pool (and hoping that the
weather is better this year than last!).
Till next time, Jill Davis
