Photo of the Month
BY JILL DAVIS
A reminder about the contest rules:
The photographer must be a resident of Cryder Point, and all photos
must of the property or of a view from the property. They also must
be current, that is, taken no more than a couple of months before you
submit them.
Any description of where you were on the property, the day of week
or time of day…any details that you can provide which bring your
neighbors into the moment of the photo…are eagerly welcomed.
Submit your pictures to jdavis@qns.com and yours might be selected
to be featured in the paper. Please be sure to put “Cryder Point
Photo” in the subject line of your email and include the full name of
the photographer and an approximate date of the picture.
It didn’t take long for January to give us a hint
of what was to come. Rhea Epstein gets props for
her Photo of the Month, capturing the first snow
of the season against a backdrop of sparkling blue.
You’ll see from the array of photos this month
that January can be pretty interesting and Rob
Cohen receives “Honorable Mention” for his quite
unique (and somewhat eerie) shot of the pier sitting
vividly in a thick haze of fog.
Meanwhile, Gail Smith and Marsha Gellert keep
us feeling close to nature with their scenic photos
taken throughout the month.
Now we’re in February, which can be the
harshest month of the year (did I just jinx us?).
At press time, there’s no report yet as to whether
the groundhog saw his shadow, so we’ll just have
to wait and see how long it will be until spring.
However, it was confirmed that at the end of the
month, sunset will be at 5:45 pm, which feels late
compared to now (and just wait till the clocks
move forward in March!). As always, keep your
camera ready!
