Photo of the Month
BY JILL DAVIS
We received photos this month from residents
who don’t often contribute, which is fantastic.
Thanks go to Frances Rispoli, Pat Liebowitz and
Elyse Rubin for their lovely pictures.
Frances’s picture is January’s Photo of the Month.
She explains how she captured this unusual sight.
“The photo was taken while standing on our 6th
floor terrace,” she said. “After a day of heavy rain
the sun finally came out. The sun was on the
bridge just before sunset.” Yes, timing is everything!
Alright, so it’s January. The days are short and
the air is cold. Yuck. Still, past Januarys have given
us many great pictures to present, whether it’s a
clear winter’s day or the remnants of a snowstorm
(bit my tongue on that one). As always, everyone
is encouraged to participate, so please don’t be shy
(or modest) about submitting your pictures!
A reminder about the contest rules:
The photographer must be a resident of Cryder
Point, and all photos must of the property or of a
view from the property. They also must be current,
that is, taken no more than a couple of months before
you submit them.
Any description of where you were on the property,
the day of week or time of day…any details
that you can provide which bring your neighbors
into the moment of the photo…are eagerly welcomed.
Submit your pictures to jdavis@qns.com and
yours might be selected to be featured in the
paper. Please be sure to put “Cryder Point Photo”
in the subject line of your email and include the
full name of the photographer and an approximate
date of the picture.
Elite Amenity Management is Cryder Point’s pool management
company. We—and they—are looking forward to
the summer with a fervent hope that the 2021 pool season
will return to normal…or as close to it as possible. Here,
Elite co-founders Andrew Meditz and Michael Zuchelli
share some of their thoughts on the challenges of adapting
in the time of COVID.

ZUCHELLI
CO-FOUNDERS, ELITE AMENITY MANAGEMENT
Elite Amenity Management was founded in December
of 2006. Yes, we’ve been at this 14 years (we can’t believe it
either), and during that time we’ve launched some amazing
services and added so many incredible people to our
team. It’s sometimes easy to forget that right as we were
getting our business off the ground, we faced the Global
Financial Crisis of 2008.
It may seem counter-intuitive, but lots of successful
companies launched during a recession. There are as
many explanations for this as there are founders and
CEOs, but one factor is that good times come and go, but
once you’ve held your business together during a crisis,
you learn to look for opportunities in adversity. And you
learn to adapt rapidly when things change.
That’s a good thing, since change is the only constant.
Elite started small and built up from next to nothing,
thinking through each service we added. That means
we’re used to evaluating everything, and we make changes
fast when we need to.
When COVID hit, our amenity spaces, pools, and fitness
centers shut down. We pivoted to offering fitness
classes online, which offered the extra benefit of allowing
all of our clients to participate, even if the property
doesn’t have its own gym!
It’s hard to believe it, but it’s been over a year since the
very first case of coronavirus was detected in China. Here
in the US, we are still assessing the impact week by week.
In the fall, things were opening up again. But a few weeks
later, that trend reversed.
The impact of the COVID-19 situation is still unfolding,
and at Elite, we are still adapting. We are finding new
ways for residents to add luxury to their busy everyday
lives with virtual events and streaming fitness options.
Although the 2020 pool season was less than ideal for
everyone, we were pleased that we managed to pull it off
successfully at Cryder Point. We appreciate the cooperation
of your residents for complying with the necessary
COVID protocols and are proud of our on-site staff for
adapting so quickly. But of course, that’s what we do--we
never stop changing, because our agility is at the foundation
of who we are.
We look forward to seeing you again this summer, in
whatever form that may take. Thank you!
