C R Y D E R P O I N T 6 JANUARY Cryder Point Welcomes Our New Residents! The New Year seems like an appropriate time to welcome our new residents to Cryder Point. In 2016, 16 sales were approved, with some folks settled in and others packing their boxes and getting the movers scheduled. As happens so often, many new shareholders discovered Cryder Point pretty much by accident or through word-of-mouth. For some, this is their first venture into home ownership, and for others it’s a happy transition from the challenges of maintaining a house. Here’s a chance for you to “meet” some of your new neighbors, with a warm welcome to all of our new residents. ~ Jill Davis Roseann Robins Roseann Robins moved in last August, having finally purchased after knowing about the Cryder Point for over 20 years. “I have known about Cryder Point since 1994 and have always wanted to live here,” she said. A transplant from Sheepshead Bay, Roseann is among the many who decided to downsize. She explained, “The catalyst of the move was that I was suffering the empty nest syndrome and I didn’t want the responsibility of caring for a large home on my own any longer.” In addition, Cryder Point is closer to where Roseann works, and she also appreciates the great security we have 6 CRYDER POINT COURIER | JANUARY 2017 | WWW.QNS.COM here. “I know that the best thing to me is feeling safe, and living here has given me a feeling of security and peace,” she said.   As wonderful as our community is, there’s always room for improvement. “As far as I am concerned, Cryder Point is perfect aside from the fact that it lacks a gym!!” she said. (Roseann, as you’ll see, you’re not alone in that sentiment!) Nancy and Billy Lee Nancy and Billy Lee moved in at the beginning of July and are among those who found Cryder Point by chance. “We didn’t know Cryder Point before until one day in January 2016 when we passed an ‘Open House’ sign in front of the buildings,” Billy said. Before he retired in 2009, Billy worked for 35 years as a leasing/chartering broker for oil tankers, moving oils around the world.  He and Nancy have two sons and two grandsons. Over the years, the Lees moved a lot. “Many years ago, we lived Valley Stream, then we moved to New Jersey and then Connecticut because of the needs of my various jobs. Now, we are moving  back to this beautiful Cryder community in Queens.” Billy says that the best thing about living here is the “convenience to everything and peacefulness of the environment.” He continued, “As a member in Cryder Point, we just want to say we are happy living in Cryder. Thanks for the help and the warm friendship in Cryder Point.”
