St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots won
their first-ever CPLT20 trophy after
securing a nail-biting three wicket
victory over St. Lucia Kings in a lastball
thriller at Warner Park Sporting
Complex last week.
Batting first, the Kings made 159/7,
led by knocks from Roston Chase and
Rahkeem Cornwall, who both scored
43 each and a late cameo from Keeno
Paul (39).
However, an early 45-run partnership
from 23-year-old Joshua da Silva
(37) and Sherfane Rutherford (25)
backed by a game-changing 44-run
stance from Fabian Allen (20) and
Dominic Drakes (48 not out) in the
final overs propelled in an exciting
win.

Holding
to retire

Former West Indies fast bowler,
Michael Holding is retiring after 31
years as a TV commentator, ESPNcricinfo
said.
Holding, 67, played 60 Tests and 102
One-Day International (ODI), claiming
391 wickets, before moving behind the
microphone after his retirement from
playing in 1987.
His first TV broadcast came during
England’s 1990 tour of the West Indies.
Holding had indicated last year that
he will be retiring at the end of the 2021

Roston Chase voted
CPL 2021 MVP

Allrounder Roston Chase topped the
batting averages and was most economical
with the ball for the St. Lucia
Kings at the recently concluded 2021
Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in St.
Kitts and Nevis.
The 2021 Most Valuable Player (MVP)
scored 446 runs at 49.55 and captured
10 wickets with an economy rate of
6.92.
Chase’s contributions proved key as
he earned his maiden West Indies Twenty20
International call-up for the 2021
ICC World Cup in the United Arab Emirates
(UAE) and Oman next month.
The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR)
were unable to reach the heights of
2020 when they won all of their 12
matches.
