Brooklynite named int’l Lion’s Club 2021-22 prez

The International Lions Club
named Brooklyn resident, Douglas
X. Alexander, as its 2021-2022
president, during a recent reception
at Russo’s On the Bay Banquet
Hall in Cross Bay, Queens.
According to the body, Alexander
who has served the Bedford
Stuyvesant Lions Club for more
than 35 years, got the nod from
Lions in more than 200 countries.
While serving as the 2021-
2022 president to 1.4 million
members worldwide, Alexander’s
programs and initiatives will
focus on four key priorities for
Lions International that are critical
to their mission of service:
Building the capacity to serve,
supporting Lions global Foundation
LCIF, putting Lions heart
into their service, and communicating
with their communities
and each other.
Alexander, a retired J.P. Morgan
Chase Bank vice president is
no stranger to community work
outside of his Lions commitment.
He served as chairperson
on the advisory board for NY
Urban League, and as a board
member for St. Francis DeSales
School for the Deaf.

Over the decades, Alexander
held many offices within the
Lions club including district governor
Caribbean L 16 ife, JULY 23-29, 2021
and international director.
He also received many awards for
his community service including
Dr. Franklin G. Mason Fellow
and the Progressive Melvin Jones
Fellow.
Overall, Alexander is known
for leading with his heart. His
family has a passion for service
and his commitment to inspire
the next generation of leaders
has defined his career and his
life. “Always remember that the
small things you do as Lions are
as important as the big things,”
said Alexander.
