Twenty20 specialist Jamaican,
Chris Gayle will join St. Lucia Zouks
in the 2020 Caribbean Premier
League (CPL), after being released
by his home franchise, the Jamaica
Tallawahs.
The franchise announced last
week the 40-year-old veteran player
for the eighth edition of the tournament
that is scheduled to start
in August if it is not affected by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Former West Indies captain Darren
Sammy will return to captain St.
Lucia Zouks for the 2020 season.
Sammy had just finished a coaching
stint in Pakistan and he will be
back for this season. He has been
part of the St Lucia Zouks franchise
since the inception of CPL in 2013.

IPL postponed

This year’s Indian Premier League
(IPL) has been postponed indefinitely
following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally scheduled to start on
March 29, the eight-team league was
initially suspended until last week even
as India entered a three-week lockdown
last month.

Any disruption to the Twenty20 World
Cup in Australia later this year would
have serious financial implications for
most of the cricketing nations.
This is according to the Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Eshan
Mani, who said the financial fallout
would be very bad.
The COVID-19 pandemic has halted
professional cricket, like other sporting
events, across countries, clouding the
outlook for the format’s flagship tournament
that is scheduled to begin in
the city of Geelong, southwest of Melbourne,
on Oct. 18.
