CONCACAF said on Thursday that
it will be a busy summer in the
CONCACAF region, including for the
teams competing in the 2021 CONCACAF
Gold Cup Preliminary.
“It is the first time ever that a
preliminary round of matches will
be used to determine the remaining
spots in a Gold Cup Group Stage,”
it said.
CONCACAF said the Prelims will
use a direct elimination format and
will take place in Miami, Florida,
July, 2-6, with 12 nations vying for
the three precious spots in the 2021
Gold Cup Group Stage.
Based on their performances in
the 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations
League, CONCACAF said the following
12 teams will compete in the
Gold Cup Prelims: Bahamas, Barbados,
Bermuda, Cuba, French Guiana,

Braithwaite has signed with Gloucestershire
for their upcoming English
County Championship campaign.
The 28-year-old right-hander left
Antigua for the UK last week at the end
of the Sri Lanka two-Test drawn series.
Braithwaite, who has in the past featured
in the County Championship for
Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Glamorgan,
said he would be embracing
the new experience in a country where
he already enjoyed playing.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) Annual
General Meeting (AGM) fiasco has hurt
West Indies cricket.
This was as the opinion of CWI Chief
Executive Officer, Johnny Grave, who
said the recent postponement of the
AGM, has threatened to derail much of
the significant progress made in repairing
the West Indies cricket brand in
recent years.
In the wake of the fiasco, Grave said
CWI had been forced to reach out to
the governing body’s commercial partners
and other stakeholders to reassure
them about the stability of West Indies
cricket.
He stressed it was critical the postponed
AGM scheduled for April 11 came
