Cricket West Indies (CWI) is
hoping to give Chris Gayle a proper
send off at Sabina Park, Jamaica
when it hosts Ireland for a whiteball
series in January next year.
Following a disappointing performance
at the recent ICC T20
World Cup in the United Arab
Emirates, Gayle had indicated that
he would play one match in West
Indies colors before his home fans.
CWI CEO Johnny Grave has
indicated the board was in discussion
with stakeholders in Jamaica
to honor the “Universe Boss” with
a Twenty20 International against
Ireland that would be, hopefully,
if fans are allowed into Sabina
Park, a good opportunity for “us to
say farewell to Chris at his home
ground.”

IPL retains 3
WI cricketers

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has
retained only three West Indies cricketers
for the 2022 edition franchise when
the window closed recently.
Trinidad and Tobago Kieron Pollard
was retained by Mumbai Indians, while
Sunil Narine also from Trinidad and
Tobago and Jamaican Andre Russell
were both retained by Kolkata Knight
Riders.

hectic 2022

Cricket West Indies (CWI) CEO,
Johnny Grave said the series against
Ireland in January would be the start
of a very busy year for us at CWI, as
we host several international teams as
well as the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket
World Cup.
Following the Ireland tour West
Indies will engage on a “white-ball ”
tour of India in February. They will play
three One-Day Internationals (ODIs)
on Feb.6, 9, 12 and as many Twenty20
Internationals on Feb. 15, 18 and 20.
The West Indies is set to host England
in five Twenty20 Internationals in
late January.
England will return to the West
Indies in March for three Tests.
