NEW ZEALAND CRUSHES WINDIES FIFA ban

A Cricket West Indies (CWI) inspection
team has given the thumbs up for
the bio-secure arrangements put in
place by the Bangladesh Cricket Board
(BCB) for West Indies’ proposed tour of
Bangladesh next month.
CWI Director, Dr. Akshai Mansingh,
along with Security Manager,
Paul Stowe, recently toured stadia in
Dhaka and Chattogram and also visited
airports, hotels, hospitals and state of
readiness.
The tour, expected to comprise Tests
and limited overs matches, hosted by
Caribbean Life, D 30 ecember 11-17, 2020
the country amid the ongoing COVID-
19 pandemic.
Mansingh told reporters that the
protocols that were described by the
BCB were very, very, well thought out.
“The fact that there have been three
competitions prior to our coming and
one (Twenty20 Cup) going on now obviously,
they are well practiced with biosecure
protocols. We are very happy
with what we saw in Dhaka and Chattogram.
The facilities are excellent. The
COVID-19 protocols are concise and
tight,” Dr. Mansingh said.
Bangladesh has recorded more than
465,000 COVID-19 cases with 6,600
deaths. Dhaka, the country’s capital,
has reported over 300,000 cases.
If West Indies proceeds with the
series, it will mark their third international
tour since the COVID-19 outbreak
last March and subsequent global
cessation of cricket.
The West Indies will be subjected to
tight protocols because of the elevated
levels of infections.
The regional team last toured Bangladesh
two years ago by a combinations
of Tests, One-Day Internationals and
Twenty20 internationals.

their men’s and women’s teams to
tour England in 2020, a year when
the COVID-19 pandemic has caused
such major disruption not only to the

the pandemic and is engaged in

Jason Holder’s Men’s team faced
England in a three-match Test series,
which began in early July. The team
arrived in England in early June, with
lock down instructions still in place
across the United Kingdom and infection
rates remaining prevalent.
The West Indies women led by
Stafanie Taylor, stepped in at short
notice to play England in a fivematch
Twenty20 International series
in September following the cancellation
of the hosts’ previously scheduled
matches.

West Indies defeat extended the
regional team’s nightmare run on New
Zealand soil as they have not won a Test
in their last 13 appearances.
Left-arm pace bowler, Neil Wagner
claimed two wickets to fall — including
that of Blackwood’s — to end with four
for 66 while the six-footer Kyle Jamieson
finished with two for 42.
West Indies captain Jason Holder
won the toss and sent in New Zealand
to bat in overcast conditions after slight
rain interrupted the start for about 15
minutes.
West Indies bowlers toiled on the first
two days in which New Zealand scored a
mammoth 519 for seven declared
Captain Kane Williamson scored a
double century (251), surpassing his
previous career best of 242 against
Sri Lanka in Wellington six years ago,
