Despite batsman Jermaine Blackwood
scoring his second Test century,
West Indies suffered a crushing
innings and 134-run defeat inside
four days of the opening Test at
Seddon Park in New Zealand on
Sunday.
Unbeaten on 80 overnight, the
29-year-old Jamaican reached triple
figures approaching the first hour
of the day, before being eight out for
104, as the regional team collapsed
to 247 all out in their second innings
40 minutes before lunch.
Tail-ender Alzarri Joseph, who
resumed overnight on 59, batted
for his career-best 86 but once he
departed in the second over following
the drinks break, West Indies lost
their last two wickets without a run
on the board as wicket-keeper Shane

‘Spirit of
Cricket’

Cricket West Indies (CWI) and its
men’s and women’s senior teams have
been awarded the 2020 Christopher
Martin-Jenkins (CMJ) “Spirit of Cricket
Award” for their “courage,” “huge sacrifices”
and “personal risks” to tour
England at the height of COVID-19 pandemic
and to kick start the resumption
of international cricket.
The MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club)
in England in conjunction with the
BBC made the announcement last week
that CWI has been given the CMJ award

Haiti soccer federation president
Yves Jean-Bart has been banned for
life from the sport by FIFA, the world
governing body for football, following
accusations of systemic sexual abuse of
female players.
The FIFA ethics committee found
Jean-Bart guilty of “having abused his
position and sexually harassed and
abused various female players, including
minors.” He was also fined US$1.1
million.
Jean-Bart denied the allegations,
which involves the national team players.
The accusations were first revealed
by British newspaper, The Guardian in
April.
The abuse is said to have happened at
the country’s national training center
