Veteran all-rounder Dwayne “DJ”
Bravo has been hailed as a “trailblazer”
and one of the finest players of his
era, after bringing his international
career to a close after West Indies
were eliminated from the T20 World
Cup recently.
The 38-year-old all-rounder
announced he would retire following
West Indies final Group match
against Australia and came in for
widespread praise in the wake of the
outing, which saw the Caribbean side
slump to a heavy defeat.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) praised
Bravo’s contribution to the game,
pointing out the Trinidadian had
evolved to become “one of the world’s
leading white-ball death bowlers and
a valuable member for the next generation
of West Indies players.”

Australia clinched its maiden Twenty20
World Cup title after beating New
Zealand in the finals on Sunday in
Dubai, UAE.
David Warner and Mitchell Marsh
smashed fifties to an eight-wicket victory
against the Black Caps with seven
balls to spare.
Warner smashed 55 to drive Australia
chase, while Marsh hit 77 not out.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson’s
85 off 48 balls fired his side to a
strong 172 for 4 in a rematch of the final

The West Indies team has missed out
on an automatic spot in next’s Twenty20
World Cup following their poor showing
at the recent Twenty20 World Cup in
the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
But Captain Kieron Pollard said the
Caribbean side was unfazed by the prospect
of having to go through a qualifying
tournament.
The deposed champions finished
fifth in Group 1 on two points after losing
four of their five matches, slumping
to 10th in the International Cricket
Council rankings.
The top eight nations — the winner
and runner-up of the Twenty20 World
Cup along with the highest-ranked
sides — qualify directly for the Super
12 group stage for next year’s tourna-
