Trinbago Knight Riders on Thursday
became the first team to go
through an entire Caribbean Premier
League (CPL) season undefeated
as a momentum-shifting bowling
performance from captain Kieron
Pollard was followed by a thrilling
century partnership between Lendl
Simmons and Darren Bravo to take
them past the St. Lucia Zouks by
eight wickets and to a fourth CPL
title, according to EPNcricinfo.
From 19 for 2, chasing 155, Simmons
and Bravo steadily rebuilt the
innings through the remainder of
the first half, setting up 96 to get
from the final 10 overs, ESPNcricinfo
said.
It said the pair then “feasted on
the wrist-spin pair of Javelle Glen and
Zahir Khan to turn a competitive
target into a cakewalk.”
ESPNcricinfo said the Zouks “paid
the price” for not batting out their
innings, after being 89 for 2, after 11
overs, and seemingly on course for a
total in excess of 170.
But Pollard’s intervention in the
12th over sparked a collapse in which
the St. Lucia Zouks were bowled out
off the first ball of the final over for
154, ESPNcricinfo said.
It said the Knight Riders “showed
no mercy” by clinching victory with
11 balls to spare as Simmons and
Bravo rode a 138-run stand to the
championship.
Andre Fletcher made up for the
early loss of Rahkeem Cornwall in
the second over by putting his stamp
on the final with a scintillating
knock, ESPNcricinfo said.
It said the shot of the innings
came off Sikandar Raza’s offspin
when Fletcher backed away slightly
to carve him over the extra cover
rope.
Next ball, Raza tried to follow him
but Fletcher went with the spin on
this occasion, cranking him over
wide long-on for an even bigger six,
ESPNcricinfo said.
It said Raza then overcorrected
too short outside off, resulting in a
cut to the backward point boundary
for four more.

The 2020 edition of the Trinidad
and Tobago Festival (TTFF) began on
Wednesday with the premiere of “501
Not Out,” a film about West Indies
batting icon Brian Lara, featuring
rarely seen archive footage and stills,
according to Loopjamaica.
It said the film was screen online
to the English-speaking Caribbean
on Wednesday night.
“Due to the challenges of Covid-
19, TTFF/20 has adapted its program
delivery to an online and in-person
format,” Loopjamaica said. “This
year will see the festival expanding
its online screenings for over
120 films to ensure that audiences
feel safe and comfortable, while still
being able to watch excellent films
they won’t see anywhere else.”
Some industry events will be held
at physical locations, according to
Loopjamaica.
It said a new prize category for
student filmmakers has also been
added to support emerging talent.
The online schedule will comprise
daily premieres of films, which was
available on the premiere date only,
and for 24 hours from the time you
start watching, Loopjamaica said.
All online films will be available
through the ttff website, online.
