The West Indies will clash
with Afghanistan in a full
series in November in India,
the Afghanistan Cricket Board
announced.
The tour, which runs from
Nov. 5 to Dec. 1, will feature
one Test, three One-Day
Internationals (ODIs) and
three Twenty20 Internationals,
which is in keeping with the
International Cricket Council’s
Future Tours Program.
The West Indies team has
never played Afghanistan in a
Test but has faced the team in the
shorter formats, winning two of
six One-Day Internationals and
three of four Twenty20s.
At the ICC World Cup
qualifiers in Zimbabwe last year,
the regional team failed to beat
Afghanistan in two attempts,
including the final.
However, in their recent ICC
World Cup campaign in England,
the West Indies beat the Afghans
by 23 runs at Leeds.
Afghanistan was one of two
nations, along with Ireland, to
acquire Test status two years
ago. They have played only two
matches, losing to powerhouse
India and fellow minnows.
