T&T nursing group donates personal protective
equipment to McKinney Rehabilitation Center

In its contribution to
addressing the coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic in New
York City, the Brooklyn-based
Trinidad and Tobago Nurses
Association of America, Inc.,
(TTNAA Inc.) recently donated
face masks, face shields
and hand sanitizers to nurses
and staff at Brooklyn’s NYC
Health & Hospitals/Mc Kinney,
formerly known as Susan
Smith McKinney Rehabilitation
Center and Nursing
Home.
TTNAA Inc. said in a statement
on Monday that the
supplies were accepted by
Ann Marie White-Akinyooye,
Chief Nursing Officer.
Registered Nurse Ingrid
Pierre-Louis, senior director
of Clinical Operations at
Brooklyn’s Maimonides Medical
Center, sponsored the
donation to TTNAA Inc.
“TTNAA Inc. supports the
health in the wearing of face
masks in public and encourages
frequent hand washing
with soap and water, in addition

to physical distancing to
combat the spread of COVID-
19,” the statement said.
The nursing group noted
that this year has been designated
by the World Health
Organization (WHO) as the
“International Year of the
Nurse and Midwife” in honor
of the 200th anniversary of
Florence Nightingale’s birth.
“Florence Nightingale was
the mother of infection control,
and nurses / midwives
have been on the frontlines
to maintain strict infection
control measures to manage
the COVID-19 pandemic,” it
said.
As houses of worship are
preparing to reopen their
doors to their congregants,
the TTNAA Inc. said it also
donated face masks and a gallon
of hand sanitizer to the
New York Center of Truth for
Better Living.
These items were accepted
by the church’s office manager
Benita Primus, the state-
Trinidad and Tobago Nurses Association of America, Inc., with banner, delivers masks and
