Alkaline is now the face of Spotify’s
first Jamaican-focused playlist,
“Back A Yard,” according to the
Jamaican entertainment company,
Shuzzr Media.
Last week, it said Spotify added 83
countries to its playlist.
Dubbed “the latest and biggest

scene,” the playlist currently consists
of 51 authentic dancehall tracks from
the genre’s leading headliners, “highlighting
the user-demand for these
specific tracks via their streaming

Powering the streams are Alkaline’s
loyal fans who took to Twitter
when his latest track “Top Prize” was
released last month.
“The hashtag #TopPrizeAlkaline
and #TopPrizeAlbum trended high
for the entire weekend,” Shuzzr said.
Since its release on Feb. 12, the
single has reached close to 900,000
streams across DSP with over a million
views on Alkaline’s YouTube
Channel, Alkaline Musiq, Shuzzr
said.
It said the track is currently featured
on several “ones to watch” lists
from Pandora, Apple Music and the
top 100 Deezer tracks list.
Shuzzr said indication of the
track’s popularity was evident during
Alkaline’s recent show in SD Lawn,
Falkenburg Road, Tampa, Fl.
