at Monsignor Scanlan High
School! On Saturday, October
30th, 2021, Monsignor Scanlan
High School’s track team
competed in the NYCHSAA /
BQCHSAA Sectionals Championships
at the legendary Van
Cortlandt Park for the title
“Best in the City”!!!
The following races were
contested: 2.5 miles run for
the varsity and 2500 meters
for freshman athletes. Medals
were awarded to the top 25.
Plaques were awarded to all
winning teams!
The Crusaders’ Freshman
Girls continues to shine! We
had fi ve girls in the top 14 athletes
out of 87 girls. Winning
the Freshman Girls NYCHSAA
and City Championship was an
Awesome task!! The following
freshman girls earned medals
and team championship: Talia
Dixon lead the girls with a 4th
place fi nish. Saniah Caldwell
fi nish in 6th place, earning
her a medal and breaking her
PR (personal record) by 12
seconds. Candice Palmer took
7th place, earning her a medal
and PR by 21 seconds. Rakae
Thomas took 8th place, earning
her a medal and PR by 20
seconds. Diamond Fields, who
is known for playing basketball,
showed that she can run
too. She ran in her fi rst 2500
meters cross country race and
fi nish in 14th place to seal the
team Championship. Follow by
Dakota Hickman, who broke
her personal record.
The Boys looked good too!
Sophomore Student Kyle Matthews,
who led the Crusaders
with a time of 16:44 in the 2.5-
mile run, breaking his personal
record by 14 seconds. Followed
by Zion Barnabas, Alan
Perera, and Ethan Lithgrow.
Freshman Ferdinand Guevara
ran a respectful time in his 2nd
2500-mile run. Great job Crusaders!

November 6th CHSAA
Freshman / Sophomore Intersectional
Championship at Van
Cortlandt Park.

Soccer and Varsity Volleyball
teams recognized graduating
athletes at their last
home game of the season. Each
senior was presented with
fl owers and a poster highlighting
some of their teammates’
favorite moments with them
followed by a speech given by
an underclasswoman wishing
them luck on their future endeavors.
Family and friends
were also present to share in
celebrating some of their fi nal
moments as student athletes
at Preston. Both teams qualifi
ed and are up for the challenge
of playoffs!
