The Bronx held its annual Day of Remembrance on Monday, Sept. 13, at Lou Gehrig Plaza
along the Grand Concourse. The ceremony marks the borough’s offi cial annual 9/11 memorial
service remembering the 144 Bronx residents who were killed on Sept. 11, 2001. Organized
by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., and the Bronx Supreme Court, the ceremony
marked the 20th anniversary of the terror attacks bringing back those heart-wrenching
memories of innocent Bronxites lost. The event also paid tribute to the members of the
FDNY who lost their lives as fi rst responders in an effort to save others. There were prayers
for healing as many came out in full support. Although you felt the trauma in the air, you
also felt the strength, honor, tribute and love.
