Why are we not talking
about the facts? Why are we
letting the media feed us only
what they want us to know? If
we want to save our country
from the hands of anarchists,
socialists and those that are
intent on overthrowing our
government, we better know
the facts and stand up strong
against those who are doing
everything possible to do us
harm.
Black Lives Matter is, by
their own admission, a Marxist
organization whose goal
is to defeat capitalism and replace
it with socialism. It was
founded in 2013 by three Black
women, Alicia Garza, Patrisse
Cullors and Opal Tometi, who
claim to be highly trained
Marxists. The BLM organization
is also fi ghting to break
down the nuclear family, destroy
our economic system,
abolish police and prisons
and destroy all depictions of
Jesus, thereby abolishing religion.
One bold BLM leader
actually called for the elimination
of all white people
from the Bronx.
We need to listen to their
words through interviews
they have given, not the words
of the media who will tell you
that BLM is fi ghting for social
justice. It is undoubtably
socialism, not social justice,
that is their goal. This
is not about George Floyd, it
is about the transformation
of America. Unfortunately,
Black people are being used
to advance political goals that
will not help them or anyone
else. If they succeed, Black
lives and all lives would be irreparably
harmed.
The goals of BLM go far beyond
what the media reports.
We must read beyond the slogans
and innocuous sounding
media accounts of what is
happening in the movement.
Have you seen any “peaceful
BRONX TIMES REPORTER,26 AUGUST 14-20, 2020 BTR
protests?” The pleas of
Black people wanting positive
change have been hijacked by
a group of anarchists fi xed on
bringing our country to its
knees. One BLM leader said
that if their demands are not
met, they will burn this country
down!
And that is exactly what
they are doing, and they are
doing it with the help of companies
like Airbnb and Spanx,
that are bankrolling them
by a promise of direct donations.
Of course, you just have
to watch TV to see the many
companies that support BLM.
I wonder if they are aware of
the devastation this organization
will cause? It seems these
companies do not care about
what will happen to our country
and that is ironic because
if BLM gets their way, these
companies are likely to go
down with the rest of us!
So, as you can see, our
country and our lives may be
about to change drastically
and defi nitely not for the
better. Where are our politicians?
I have to assume they
support socialism, destruction
of the nuclear family
and our economy, abolishing
police, prisons and religion.
So far, not one of our elected
offi cials has stood up for our
country, our freedom and the
American people but many
of them have expressed their
support for this organization.
I am waiting for them
to stand up for a country that
gives opportunity to all those
that work hard to achieve
the American dream. After
all, the fact that we voted in
a Black man to be our president
should mean that we are
going in the right direction
where everyone can achieve
their American dream if they
are willing to work hard.
Like Martin Luther King
Jr., a true supporter of social
justice, I, too, have a dream.
If the people of this country,
all people of all backgrounds
and colors came together,
we could achieve the dream
of all people being judged
by their character not their
background or the color of
their skin. BLM and politicians
too afraid to stand up
for our freedoms and against
what will bring this country
down, will never help us
achieve this goal. Stand up
for our country before it is
too late!

Neighborhood
cleanliness
Poor behaviors and service
cutbacks are causal to atypical
buildups of neighborhood litter
and grime. The increased
patches of trash that blanket
segments of our community
foster perceptions of neighborhood
degradation. The absence
of resident controlled street civility
will encourage maladaptive
behaviors and lower quality
of life standards.
In his famous 1961 inaugural
address President John
Fitzgerald Kennedy inspired
our nation to confront hardship
and support one another
to assure success. The fi nale
of that speech brought the infamous
phrase “Ask not what
your country can do for you-
ask what you can do for your
country.”
On micro-levels our communities
are being thrust into
JFK-like scenarios. We face
unconventional times and
must confront adversity with
actions. It is time to satisfy
the axiom “If we want to keep
and reap the blessings of our
fi ne quality of life…we must
endure the fatigue of supporting
it.”
Our low-density community
is absent of large commercial
corridors and vertical
builds. Challenges presented
to our quaint community
could be readily handled. Our
successes will be dictated by
collective compliance with ordinances
dedicated to neighborhood
cleanliness and quality
of life.
Sanitation regulations
Under current law, property
owners are responsible
to clean sidewalks adjoining
their property and 18 inches
beyond the curb into the
street. Cleanliness can be contagious,
when cleaning go beyond
property lines and mandated
demarcation points.
In Spencer Estate, bulk
items are collected on Wednesday
and recycling day is Saturday.
Household trash is collected
on both days. All trash
and recyclables should be
securely bundled, packaged
and placed curbside after 4
p.m. the day before scheduled
pickup. The collection programs
for electronic waste
and yard-compost materials
are suspended. Compost-yard
materials should be discarded
with household trash. Retailers,
such as Best Buy, typically
accept most electronic-waste.
Due to possible restrictions
always verify a retailer’s ewaste
policy.
Pet owners must comply
with NYC cleanup regulations.
An overwhelming majority
of pet owners fully comply
with cleanup regulations;
however, a small percentage
of noncompliance can rapidly
tarnish a neighborhood.
Communicate – See
something say something
Civil communication
should be utilized to resolve
uncomplicated issues. If untenable,
please report the issue
to 311, generate a complaint
number and bring documentation
to the attention of the
civic association.
Illegal dumping in progress
should be reported immediately
to 911, all other incidents
go through 311.
Report extremely neglected
or abandoned properties to
311. The vigilance of concerned
area residents accompanied
by the past efforts of
Bronx Community Board 10,
Councilman Gjonaj and Department
of Sanitation led to
various cleanups in the Spencer
Estate footprint.
Together, we can preserve
the charming characteristic
of our neighborhood.
