Our educational system
in New York leaves a lot to
be desired. Our borough
has the worst system in the
city and our children have
lost four months of their education
to COVID-19.
One teacher. who is a
science cluster teacher and
works with 170 children
who were supposed to log
in each day, told me 10 of
the 170 children logged in
each day so 160 students
went without an education.
She teaches in one of the
poorest areas of the city so
once again, those who need
it most are being victimized.
We can put a man on the
moon, but we can’t figure
out a way to safely teach
our children in a classroom
setting. We can allow mass
rallies, but we don’t allow
schools to open. Many of
the teachers who participated
in rallies across the
city are now afraid of going
into a classroom. Anyone
who thinks the teacher’s
union is concerned about
the children, just ask them
why they are against vouchers
and charter schools,
which would help our most
needy students.
I think many of our politicians
are in for a big surprise.
We are tired of everything
being politicized,
the people be dammed. Bail
reform has hurt our communities,
the politicians
promised to make changes
– NOTHING. Politicians
are voting to defund the
police and the people want
more police – NOTHING.
The attorney general of the
United States went before
Congress to answer questions
but instead, the congresspeople
made speeches
and wouldn’t allow him
to answer. When he asked
them to denounce the lawlessness
in our cities not
one Democratic congressperson
responded.
Why has the news media
failed to report the
chaos going on in some of
our cities? Why have some
of our governors and mayors
allowed this lawless-

What happened to George
Floyd was a terrible tragedy.
To those who support progressive
politics, however, it was a
great gift.
The U.S. economy had made
extraordinary gains, with special
momentum for blue collar
jobs. In foreign affairs, the
inexcusable mistakes of the
Obama Administration were
being corrected. Washington
was fi nally fi ghting back
against China’s outrages. The
false charges of Russian collusion
were fi nally exposed. The
presumptive candidate of the
Democratic Party was tottering
on the edge of senility.
Progressives had little
chances of persuading the public
to fulfi ll Barack Obama’s
vision of “fundamentally
transforming” America into
something radically different
than the constitutional, free
market entity that had made it
the most successful nation on
Earth.
Then along came the tragedy
in Minneapolis. Ignoring
the fact that Floyd’s death took
place in a Democratic, progressive
run city, as did other, similar
outrages (think Rodney
King in Los Angeles, or Eric
Gardner in New York) the left
moved swiftly to irrationally
blame the White House, and
indeed, America as a whole.
Pay careful attention to the
allegations of systemic discrimination,
followed by calls
to defund the police. The goal
has nothing to do with George
Floyd or racial bias. It is a cynical
and deceitful drive by the
increasingly powerful Socialist
movement to wholly replace
the American system of
government, beginning particularly
with law enforcement.
The fact that the charges
of “systemic discrimination”
were unsupported by facts
didn’t matter. Anyone who
questions that premise is
swiftly labelled a bigot, ending
any discussion. Nevertheless,
the false narrative of police
eagerly killing Black men
doesn’t have a factual basis.
Take the example of the
charge that cops are engaged
in a shooting spree against
Black men. Consider the results
of a Proceedings of the
National Academy of Sciences
of the United States study:
“We fi nd no evidence of
anti-Black or anti-Hispanic
disparities across shootings,
and white offi cers are not
more likely to shoot minority
civilians than non-white offi
cers. Instead, race-specifi c
crime strongly predicts civilian
race. This suggests that
increasing diversity among offi
cers by itself is unlikely to reduce
racial disparity in police
shootings.”
Heather MacDonald, writing
in “National Review”
found that, “Earlier studies
have also disproven the idea
that white offi cers are biased
in shooting Black citizens. The
Black Lives Matter narrative
has been impervious to the
truth…”
Despite the lack of evidence,
the anti-police movement is
quickly gaining steam. The
mayor of Los Angeles has announced
a $150 million cut to
his police force. In New York,
similar cuts are being advocated
by some. In New York,
the NYPD is also facing demands
for budget cuts.
Obviously, a lack of protection
would lead to chaos.
What do progressives suggest
replace police? “Law Enforce-

If funeral homes were all the same,
Ours wouldn’t be the family choice
The families of our community so often choose our funeral home. Some come to us to pre-plan
arrangements because we offer all the options and choices they desire. Others come to us at their
time of need seeking guidance, support and the certainty of a funeral service that is correct in
every way. Should your family fi nd itself in need of our services, we hope you’ll make the choice so
many in our community have.
