AND INNOVATION DURING NURSES WEEK 2021

“Demonstrating an unwavering commitment and passion
to the care of our Lincoln patients exemplifi es the
true spirit of nursing,” stated Lillian Diaz, DHA RN NEABC,
Chief Nursing Offi cer at NYC Health + Hospitals/
Lincoln in her letter to Nurses. Diaz praised the Lincoln
nurses as leaders who were “innovative throughout the
COVID-19 pandemic,” highlighting their heroism for the
“Year of the Nurse” theme. “Nursing practice has experienced
a signifi cant transformation over these last
two years, resulting in creative and innovation to manage
unprecedented challenges we have had to face as a
result of the pandemic and leading to transformations
of unimaginable proportions. Nurses have led the way
to creating safer environments, providing a better outcome
for Lincoln patients suffering from the coronavirus,
and successfully leading the implementation of the
COVID-19 testing, tracing, and vaccination programs here
at Lincoln.”

WITH STREET RE-NAMING CEREMONY
On Monday, May 17th, the late Robert A. Williams was honored. Council Member Rafael Salamanca (17th Council District, The Bronx), the Third Avenue Business Improvement District and
members of the Melrose neighborhood came together in a ceremonious tribute for this man’s dedication of over ” fi ve decades of advocacy in providing Bronx youth with personal and
professional development opportunities through sports.” The intersection of 149th Street and Third Avenue, the heart of the Hub, was co-named ‘Robert A. Williams Way in this legend’s
honor. Rafael Salamanca, Jr said that it was “the greatest honor co-naming streets after those who had a great impact in our community.”
