Saturday, May 22, was the street conaming
ceremony of Beatrice Castiglia
Catullo, the founder of R.A.I.N.
Councilman Mark Gjonaj praised Beatrice
Castiglia Catullo as the “closest thing to a
living saint.” She was known to him as an
inspiration. He said that “she dared you
to dream.” Many speakers had similar
praise for this woman and leader. Judge
Eugene Oliver, of the Bronx Rotary Club,
also gifted R.A.I.N. with a $1500 check in
her honor. Borough President Ruben Diaz,
Jr. encouraged attendees “to acknowledge
and respect these maternal images.”
Dan Suarez(board chair) said that her
name will also be on the building.
