Scanlon HS places in
CHSAA Intersectional Relay

On Sunday, Dec. 12, Velocity Track
Club traveled to Jersey City, New Jersey,
to compete in the NJ-AAU Jersey
City Recreational Development Series
Meet No. 1. Teams from New Jersey
and New York were in attendance. The
following events were contested: 400
meters, 1500 meters, 55 meters, 55-meter
hurdles, 800 meters and 200 meters;
plus, high jump and shot put. Medals
were awarded to the top three athletes
and ribbons to fourth, fi fth and sixth
place fi nishers.
Velocity was blessed to take home
me13 Gold, 10 Silver and eight Bronze
medals; and a bunch of ribbons. The
following athletes received medals:
Xoan (2 gold medals); Romel (2
Gold medals); Mason (2 Gold medals);
Bryce (1 Gold, 1 Silver); Chase (1
Gold, 1 Silver); Steven (1 Gold, 1 Silver);
Dakota (1 Gold, 1 Silver); Khloe
(1 Gold); Madison M. (1 Gold); Ryann
(1 Gold); Cameron (1 Silver, 1 Bronze);
Kimaris (1 Silver, 1 Bronze); Karly (1
Silver); Pierce (1 Silver); Kenese (1 Silver);
Savannah M. (1 Silver); Justyce
M. (2 Bronze); Brianna (2 Bronze); and
Zuriel (2 Bronze). Congratulations to
all that competed.
On Saturday, Dec. 4, Velocity Track
Club had some athletes travel to Charlotte,
North Carolina, for the AAU
Cross Country National Championship.
Many of the elite cross country
athletes from across the country were
in attendance. Some races had more
than 200 athletes participate. Medals
were awarded to the top 25 athletes.
Velocity won three medals. The
following athletes received medals:
Xoan, Lyons and Romel. Congratulations
to them and all who competed.
Our next meet will be on Sunday,
Dec. 19, Armory Youth Solstice

The blessings continues to
fl ow down on Monsignor Scanlan
High School. On Saturday,
Dec. 11, Monsignor Scanlan
High School’s track team
competed in the 68th annual
CHSAA Intersectional Relay
Carnival at the Armory in Fort
Washington, New York. There
were relay races for all grades
and individual races, including
300 meters, 55 meters,
1600 meters, 55-meter hurdles,
long jump, triple jump, high
jump, pole vault and shot put.
Medals were awarded to the
top fi ve winners.The Crusaders’
freshman girls continues
to shine. They competed
in upper grade divisions and
were able to earn medals. Dakota
Hickman competed in
the Varsity girls 55 meters
and won a silver medal. Candice
Palmer competed in the
Frosh/Soph 800 meters and
won a silver medal. Saniah
Caldwellcompeted in the varsity
girls long jump and won
a gold medal. Talia Dixon and
Rakae Thomas competed in
the varsity girls 300 meters
and won a silver and fourthplace
medal. Plus, Saniah,
Talia, Rakae and Candice
competed in the Frosh / Soph
4×400-meter relay and won
gold medals.The Crusaders’
boys also looked good. Ferdiand
Guevaoa, Tristan Vega,
Syon Wilson, Richard Barreiro
and Alan Peralta competed
in the 55 and 300 meters.
This was their fi rst time
running the 55 meters and
300 meters, and fi nished with
respectful times. Klye Matthews
competed in the 1600
and 300 meters. He fi nished
seventh in the sophomore
1600 meters, missing medaling
by two spots.Our next
meet is on Sunday, Dec. 19, at
the Bishop Loughlin Games at
Ocean Breeze Facility.
