On Saturday, November 14th,
Monsignor Scanlan High School
competed in the CHSAA (Catholic
High School Athletic Association)
Intersectional XC (Cross
Country) “C” Championship at
Van Cortland Park. The meet
was well organized with COVID
19 protocols. The best Catholic
High School XC athletes were in
attendance. Monsignor Scanlan
had three athletes participate
and performed well! Senior student
athlete Mario Augui took
4th place, running his season
best. Teammate, Senior student
athlete Fernando Ocotitla
competed in three XC meets and
each time he broke his personal
record. Also, Sophomore Student
athlete Alan Peralta, who
is known for playing baseball
for Monsignor Scanlan, decided
to try track. He ran his fi rst 2.5-
mile race and fi nish with a respectful
time on 24:13. Great job
Crusaders!
COACH WINSTON DINKINS
VTC (Velocity Track
Club) was Bless with an outstanding
performance at
the USATF New York Cross
Country Championship at
the Ocean Breeze course in
Staten Island on Sunday, November
8th. The competition
was fi erce, and medals were
hard to earn! Awards were
awarded to the top 15 athletes
in each division / gender.
Velocity had 14 athletes
participate in this championship
meet and we were bless
with 7 medals. Plus, we had 5
athletes break their PR (personal
record). The following
athletes medaled: Lyon (6th),
Kenese (8th), Xoan (14th),
Romel (5th), Bryce (13th), Sachin
(8th), and Pierce (4th
place). The following athletes
PRed: Lyon, Xoan, Zuriel,
Pierce and Sachin.
Congratulations to the
following athletes who pass
their probation by being regular
at practice, show improvement
with time trials.
Show that they can comprehend
group instruction and
be respectful to coaches and
team members. Congratulations
Xoan Achigbu, Zuriel
Achigbu, Kwadwo Owusu
Poku, Aarali Jiminez and
Aadani Jiminez. They met
the requirements to be part
of this great organization!
All other athletes are still being
evaluate.
