The Throgs Neck Veterans and Memorial Unit #1456 saluted Joanne Barton, a 20-year US
Army veteran, and sister of Sr. Teresa Barton, CDN, principal of Villa Maria Academy. The veterans
thanked Villa Maria Academy students for their Veterans Day Zoom tribute and their

VETERANS
On Sunday Nov. 8, Councilman Mark Gjonaj
presented a check to the American Legion
Auxiliary of the Korony Post with a donation
for our Christian Engeldrum “Support The
Troops” program, which had been greatly
impacted by COVID-19. Fundraisers could
not be held and we had been getting less
donations as many of our schools had been
closed or unable to assist.
Mark stepped in and with his help along with
others, we will be shipping more than 180
boxes this holiday season. Thank you again
to all who really stepped up to keep this program
going ’til they all come home.

and our veterans.
