Hello all!!
Well this little bugger,
the pandemic, seems to be
rearing its ugly head again.
The last numbers I saw had
zip code 10465 at a 4% infection
rate, which is not terrible
compared to other areas,
but a bit troubling. I hope
we don’t have to go into lock
down again. Our small businesses
are already devastated
and we’re just starting
to see some light at the end
of the tunnel. Please don’t
forget to order from them
when you can to help them
to keep going. We need them
to survive!
Unfortunately, we are going
to cancel our October
meeting and see what November
brings. I don’t have much
hope though, as most meetings
are already canceled until
next year. It seems like the
last time we got together was
a lifetime ago. We hope that
everyone is staying safe. We
are all doing the best we can
to get through this.
It will be nice to see the
Throggs Neck BIDS’ holiday
lights on East Tremont Avenue
as it will be some measure
of comfort and sameness
to the season which we
all need. It is always great
to drive down East Tremont
Avenue with the lights
twinkling above.
As for driving down East
Tremont Avenue, let’s not
forget about DOT’s road diet
that was put in without warning!
We hate it, we didn’t
want it, yet it was shoved
down our throats by DOT.
We’ve already heard that
the double parkers on Tremont
are forcing drivers to go
off the road diet to get down
the avenue. DOWN with the
ROAD DIET!!
We hope everyone has a
safe Halloween, however you
choose to celebrate. Keep safe
no matter what you do!

The Morris Park Community
Association would like
to thank Councilman Mark
Gjonaj, who once again showed
what commitment to community
means. Talking to Mark
about an unrelated issue, I
mentioned that due to the virus
there would be no Columbus
Day Parade this year and I
felt badly we couldn’t celebrate
our Italian heritage. I also
mentioned that we couldn’t
even get anyone to put up the
fl ags commemorating the holiday.
Without hesitation, he
said he would take care of it.
He put together a team which
included one of our patrol
members, Ardhmir Mulziu,
who was joined by Arlind Aildema
and Fred Dajanaj; they
hung fl ags from White Plains
Road to Pelham Parkway. The
Association appreciates your
efforts on our behalf. This is a
perfect example of the caring
in this community. There was
a need and people stepped up.
When I see people trying to divide
us, I am happy I live in a
community where every race
and nationality is respected.
We must all stand together to
keep outside infl uences from
dividing us. We must continue
to work to reinforce our commitment
to each other and the
community while enjoying
our diversity.
We have pride in this community
and in order to keep it
safe and an enjoyable place to
raise our families, we invite
you to attend our meetings every
other Wednesday evening
at 7:30 p.m. Our next meeting
will be on Oct. 28. Masks are
required. Join us in helping
keep this community one of
the safest in the city. Don’t forget
to vote, sitting home complaining
will never accomplish
anything. Anyone who
is unable to get to the polls can
call the Association and a ride
will be provided. The offi ce
number is 718 823 0596. Leave
a message and someone will
get back to you.

KORONY
