Alexander Nilaj, founder and president of the Albanian American Open Hand Association
Inc., organized a school supplies give away in anticipation of the beginning of the academic
year. New York State Sen. Alessandra Biaggi, state Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez and
City Councilman Mark Gjonaj joined visited the giveaway event on Sunday, Aug. 29.

On Sept. 2, community members and elected offi cials came together for to celebrate the
grand opening of Orange Bank & Trust with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Many dignitaries
attended in support of the bank’s grand opening, including New York City Councilman Mark
Gjonaj, Lisa Sorin, president of The New Bronx Chamber of Commerce, City Councilwoman
