On Tuesday, June 1, Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. came together with elected offi -
cials, community members, LGBTQ leaders in celebration of pride month. LGBTQ community
brothers and sisters were thanked for the contributions they have made in the Bronx and
abroad. A powerful point that was made by one of the speakers was “inclusion.” We in the
Bronx are strong and we will respect and honor our community as a whole.
On Wednesday, June 2, Councilwoman Vanessa L. Gibson joined community members, clergy,
advocates, Mothers of Gun Violence Victims and mothers who were severely impacted
by gun violence in the Bronx. Gun Violence Awareness Month is the perfect time for the
community to come together and orchestrate ways to ensure the safety of one another.
As Gibson said, ” We can’t let our young people think that their block (where they live) can
block their blessing.”
On Friday May 14, Preston High School welcomed alumnae and friends to its 12th Annual Golf
Outing, sponsored by The Westchester Bank. This year’s golf outing was the most successful
one yet for the school. The event began in the early morning at Pelham Split Rock Golf

continued with a delicious luncheon at Posto 22 in New Rochelle, plus prizes and raffl es.
Nick Mancini, owner of NR Cafeteria Services and Posto 22, the Del Greco Family of Tremont
Offset, and Lori Finelli, head cheer coach at Preston since 2008, were all honored for their
