From Councilman Mark Gjonaj
My district offi ce and constituent
services team is in
full force for the month of
May, offering a broad range of
events and services. The fi rst
week of the month saw, as previously
mentioned, the fi rst of
two town halls; these being
the subjects of mental health
best practices and non-profi t
management information.
Later last week, I offered yetanother
food giveaway event
on Boston Road with the help
of the AAOHA, followed by a
sanitizer giveaway at Bronx
House, and fi nally culminated
in a Iftar Dinner cosponsored
with the Muslim
American Society in celebration
of Ramadan’s end.
Our planned Mother’s Day
ice cream event had to be unfortunately
postponed on account
of forecasted rain—
but will be rescheduled—so
please stay posted to my social
media pages for updates.
As an additional tribute to
Mother’s Day and especially
the wonderful mothers of
District 13, we are providing
free tickets to the NY Botanical
BRONX TIMES REPORTER,50 MAY 14-20, 2021 BTR
Gardens’ mesmerizing
Kusama Exhibition. RSVP for
this event by calling the district
offi ce number listed at
the bottom of this column.
Upcoming, we have our
annual and imensely popular
shredding event for community
members looking to
safely dispose of sensitive and
confi dential documents. This
month, on the 15th at Keane
Square Park from 1p to 4p,
and the 22nd at Loreto Park
at the same time, constituents
are welcome to come shred
(provided they abide by social
distancing and PPE practices).
Our rapid COVID-19 testing
offerings continue, as
well, into May with one on
the 7th from 10a to 2p at 1867
Williamsbridge Road and
another on the 25th from 10a
to 2p at the NYCHA Pelham
Parkway Houses. These rapid
tests are free of charge to District
13 residents.
For information about upcoming
district events and
services, or any constituent
services question or concern,
please contact my district offi
ce at either (718) 931-1721 or
MGjonaj@council.nyc.gov.
Thank you and stay safe.
