In March 2020, the Manhattan
EOC shifted from
in-person programs and
services to a remote learning
environment while we
faced a global pandemic.
The use of online platforms,
tools and videos allowed
students to continue
to engage with faculty and
staff in innovative ways
and for students to stay on
track to complete their academic
and career goals.
“Like most institutes, we
continue to look for ways to
keep our constituents involved
in our process and
what we are doing,” said
Anthony Watson, MEOC
Executive Director. “Students
continue to be at the
forefront of our daily operations,
as the MEOC regularly
disseminates updates
through our website, Zoom,
Remind and other social
media platforms.”
The Manhattan EOC has
a rich history of serving
adults working towards obtaining
their High School
Equivalency (HSE) diploma
and, for this reason,
joined forces with the John
Jay College Institute for
Justice and Opportunity to
offer HSE Connect, a program
for adults 25 or older
who want to earn their a
high school diploma and
have some criminal legal
system involvement. This
initiative is aimed at providing
pathways to achieving
an HSE diploma and
subsequent college and career
opportunities.
The Manhattan EOC
has launched a Certified
EKG Technician Training
program where students
prepare for careers as EKG
Technicians (or Cardiac
Monitor Technicians) to

This January, the MEOC
rolled out a Certified Medical
Administrative Assistant
(CMAA) program
where students will prepare
for employment in a
variety of clerical support
positions within the healthcare
field. The curriculum
includes HIPAA training.
The CMAA program is an
integral addition to the
Manhattan EOC’s stackable
credentialed Allied
Health programs, which
include Certified Phlebotomy
Training, Certified
Electronic Health Records
and Certified EKG Training.
The Manhattan EOC has
been working diligently,
for 54 years, to overcome
adversity by introducing
innovative free programs
to New York City residents.

“Students are our priority
and the reason we are
in the educational field,”
said Watson. “We will continue
to work hard to bring
the absolute best of what
we have to them and to our
community.”
