The Blessings continued in
2020 for VTC (Velocity Track
Club)! For Week 4 (Friday, January
3rd - Sunday, January 5th)
at the Colgate Women’s Games,
we had 11 girls earn points and
after four weeks of competition,
VTC currently have nine girls
in the top six with accumulative
points. Plus, we have 14 girls
qualify for the semifi nals on
Saturday, January 18th at Pratt
Institute in Brooklyn, NY. The
following girls qualifi ed for the
semifi nals: Cameron Joseph,
Hannah Defl orimonte, Shyenne
Blake, Savannah Minter,
Brianna Burrell, Olyvia Burrell,
Kaylin Strachin, Dakota
Hickman, Hannah Gadpaille,
Ryann Joseph, Rakae Thomas,
Jada Clarke, Chloe Foster and
Talia Dixon. Congratulations
to all who competed, your all
are winners!
On Sunday, January 5th
VTC competed in the AAU
Midseason Championship at
the New Balance Armory in
Fort Washington NY. Teams
from throughout the tri-state
area were present. Medals
were awarded to the top three
athletes in their event / gender.
The following events were
contested: Mile run, 4x200 and
4x400 meter relay, 1500-meter
race walk, 55-meter dash,
55-meter hurdles, 800, 400-
and 200-meters races. Long
jump, triple jump, high jump
and shot put. The competition
was hard, but VTC was up for
the task. We earned 26 medals
(9 Gold, 9 Silver & 8 Bronze).
The following athletes won
medals: Bryce Hickman (2
medals), Justice Wellington
(2 medals), Steven Monegro (3
medals), Pierce Parker, Matthiaus
Love-Anderson, Brianna
Burrell (2 medals), Candice
Palmer (2 medals), Tiarra
Jackson (2 Medals), Adonijah
Washington, Messiah Jean,
Rakae Thomas, Dakota Hickman
(2 medals), Sania Grant,
Saniah Caldwell, Talia Dixon,
Karly Jackson, Olyvia Burrell
and Saggi Hemmings. Great
job and congratulation to all

winners!
Our next meet will be on
Sunday, January 12th, the
Hillhouse Youth Meet in New
Haven, CT for 14 years old &
under and the YMCA Youth
Meet at the Park Slope Armory
in Brooklyn, NY for 15
year old and up. Come out
and see your future Olympians!

2019 Velocity’s Colgate Women’s Games Finalist

On Friday, January 3rd, Monsignor Scanlan Boys
Track Team competed in the 26th Annual Bronx Catholic
Boys Championship & Invitational at the Lombardi Center
in Fordham University. The following events were contested:
55 meters, 55-meter hurdles, 300, 600, 1000, 1600- and
3200-meter races. High jump, triple jump and shot put. 4x400
meter relay. The best of the Bronx CHSAA athletes was in
attendance, which made difficult to earn a medal. Senior
student athlete Jordon Providence started 2020, the same
way he ended 2019, winning two Gold medals. He won the
300- and 600-meters races. Joseph Webster, Mario Auqui,
Nana Achampong, Fernando Ocotitia and Joel John all performed
well! Go Crusaders!
Week 4 (Friday, January 3rd - Sunday, January 5th) at
the Colgate Women’s Games, Sophomore Student athlete
Hannah Gadpaille continues to earn points in the Colgate
Women’s Game which advance her to the semifinals on Saturday,
January 18th at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn NY. Great
job.
Our next meet will be on Saturday, January 11th, the
Stanner Games at the 168th St Armory in Fort Washington
NY. Come out and see your future Olympians!
