BY CHANDLER KIDD
Mets fans gathered at a Flatlands watering
hole to meet legendary slugger
Mookie Wilson, who signed autographs
and partied with the kids of
some of his biggest fans!
“My father was a die-hard Mets
fan and it was a very high honor,”
said Ricky Zawacki, himself a diehard
Mets fan.
The famous Mets center fi elder
— who signed a picture of himself
for Zawacki, before enjoying his evening
at Flatbush Avenue’s Bulls Eye
Sports Pub — famously hit a ground
ball that rolled through Boston Red
Sox player Bill Buckner’s legs in the
bottom of the 10th inning during
Game 6 of the 1986 World Series, helping
the Mets force a seventh game
that they ultimately won to become
champions.
At least 60 people signed up for
their chance to have Wilson sign
shirts, baseballs, bats, pictures and
even a Shea Stadium seat. One fan,
Dafna Alma, brought eight items for
Wilson to sign.
