Cristina F is a self-taught singer, songwriter,
pianist and guitarist from Astoria. About
seven years ago, she went from creating
“lyrics to melodies in my head” to actually
writing songs to perform. Her music is hard
to fit into a specific genre, she said, but
her songs span topics of heartbreak, work
stress, relationships and more. She also enjoys
performing covers of popular songs
that her audience can relate to, such as Motown
or Madonna.
You can catch her performing at wineries
in the metro area, at weddings and on
Instagram, in addition to venues in the city.
Her first Christmas single, “I Won’t be Alone
on Christmas,” was released on Nov. 5 on
iTunes, Spotify and Amazon Music.
“I love performing in Astoria because everyone
is so friendly and nice, not to mention
super creative,” she said.

Musician and actor Hunter Hoffman of Astoria
usually plays at venues across the city but has
been hitting a different kind of stage recently —
the Broadway stage. Hoffman, who describes his
work as “me, a guitar and my feelings,” first started
creating music when he was in college, studying
theater. Now, he’s traveling as an understudy for
the Broadway National Tour of “Oklahoma!”
As a singer, he performs original pieces — which
he said often relate to love and heartbreak — and
cover songs. His favorite venue to play at is LIC
Bar: “The talent that comes into that place is some
of the best you’ll find in the city,” he said.
Hoffman has a new single and music video that
are slated to come out in December, plus an EP
that will be released in 2022.
