The seasons have yet to fully commit to winter, but change is always coming. One year from now, we will be electing a new president of the United States. Reflecting on the things that are more permanent and steady, vivid iconography comes to mind. This month we look at geological icons like the Berlin Wall, and how weather and time collaborate with human artistry for the 30th anniversary of the Noguchi Museum. Lady GaGa paid Astoria a visit to celebrate the opening of The Pomeroy, led by her longtime friend and tour chef—so we drop in to check out that hot new menu. But what could be more iconic in this neighborhood than Greek seafood? So, we also sail by a delicious catch located on the border of Astoria and Long Island City. Local celebrity Zach Miko is making big waves in the world of body positivity. Visual artist Jean- Marie Guyaux stuns us with his collection of images all devoted to the notion of icons and how they change and fade over time. Our beloved LIC Flea finds an exciting new home for the winter. As always, please share with us your own personal anecdotes, and send me any tips, comments, news or events to bhawks@boromag.com. Stay warm, and get out there and enjoy this incredible weather.
